WEEKLY DEVOTIONAL: Reformation Starts Now
Word of Emphasis for 2026: REFORMATION
“To change and improve by removal of faults; to correct what is wrong.”
MONDAY — Remove What Doesn’t Belong
Scripture: 2 Kings 18:1–4; Exodus 20:3; 1 John 5:21
Devotional:
Reformation begins by removing whatever competes with God. Idols aren’t only statues—they’re anything we trust more than God or refuse to surrender. Even past blessings—like the bronze serpent—can become idols when we elevate them above God Himself.
Reflection Questions:
What competes with God for my attention and trust?
Have I turned a past blessing into a present idol?
What needs to be removed so God can reform my heart?
Prayer:
“Lord, remove every idol in me. Clear what doesn’t belong so You can restore what is right.”
TUESDAY — Lay Down the Bronze Serpent
Scripture: Numbers 21:4–9; 2 Kings 18:4
Devotional:
The people began worshiping the bronze serpent—a tool God once used. Hezekiah destroyed it because they loved the method more than the God behind it. We must not cling to how God moved before; He is inviting us to respond to what He’s doing now.
Reflection Questions:
What “bronze serpent” am I still holding on to?
Have I made methods more sacred than God’s voice?
What is God asking me to release?
Prayer:
“Father, I release anything I’ve elevated above You. Help me seek Your presence, not just Your patterns.”
WEDNESDAY — Remain Where Reformation Happens
Scripture: 2 Kings 18:6; Luke 9:23–25; Proverbs 3:5–6
Devotional:
Hezekiah held fast to God. Reformation continues as we follow Jesus daily—denying ourselves, trusting His direction, and refusing to lean on our own understanding. The path may not always be easy, but when we follow Him, He makes it straight.
Reflection Questions:
Am I following Jesus today, or only when it’s convenient?
Where am I relying on my understanding instead of His?
What part of my life needs fresh surrender?
Prayer:
“Jesus, help me hold fast to You today. Lead me, steady me, and make my path straight.”
THURSDAY — Obey as an Act of Love
Scripture: Deuteronomy 10:12–13; John 14:15
Devotional:
Obedience is not legalism—it is love expressed. God’s commands are for our good. Jesus said, “If you love me, you will keep my commandments.” As we grow in love, obedience becomes a joy, not a burden.
Reflection Questions:
Do I treat obedience as duty or devotion?
What command have I delayed obeying?
How can I practice simple, loving obedience today?
Prayer:
“Lord, let obedience flow from my love for You. Help me walk in Your ways with joy.”
FRIDAY — Reformed People Reform the World
Scripture: Matthew 22:36–39; 1 Corinthians 13; Acts 1:8
Devotional:
When God reforms us, He reforms the world through us. We are a full Gospel people—believing in the Holy Spirit’s power and walking in spiritual maturity, forgiveness, and love. Without love, nothing we do matters; with love, everything changes.
In 2026, God is calling us to live out the Gospel in both power and compassion so our city can encounter Jesus through our lives.
Reflection Questions:
Am I loving God and others the way He commands?
Where is God calling me to serve?
How can I bring reformation to my home, church, or community?
Prayer:
“Holy Spirit, make me a person who brings reformation. Help me love deeply, serve faithfully, and walk in Your power.”
