King Jesus Series Devotional: The Kingdom is Here

Monday – The Kingdom Has Come

Scripture: Mark 1:14-15; Isaiah 9:6-7

Reflection:
Jesus began His ministry with a royal proclamation: “The Kingdom of God is at hand.” The people of Israel had long waited for a King who would establish peace and justice forever. Isaiah reminds us that this King would be Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace. His government rests on His shoulders and will never end.

Application:
Take time today to acknowledge Jesus as King. Meditate on the fact that His Kingdom is eternal and His peace is unending. Ask yourself: Do I live under His rule or try to rule my own life?

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, I acknowledge Your eternal reign. Let Your Kingdom come in my life today. Teach me to trust Your authority. Amen.

Tuesday – The King Rules Over All

Scripture: Daniel 7:13-14; Psalm 145:10-13

Reflection:
Daniel saw the Son of Man given dominion over all peoples and nations—an everlasting kingdom that will never be destroyed. Psalm 145 echoes this truth: all creation is called to recognize and honor the glory of His Kingdom. Jesus’ authority extends over everything, and His rule invites our participation.

Application:
Consider areas of your life where you haven’t fully submitted to His reign. Ask for His help to bring those things under His rule today. Remember, every act of obedience reflects allegiance to the eternal King.

Prayer:
Lord, help me to live in a way that honors Your authority. May every word, thought, and action reflect allegiance to Your eternal Kingdom. Amen.

Wednesday – The Kingdom Confronts Self-Reliance

Scripture: Proverbs 3:5-7; Jeremiah 10:23

Reflection:
The arrival of a King always challenges the previous rulers of our lives.  If we’re being honest, we often try to be kings of our own destiny. God reminds us, however, that true wisdom comes from trusting Him completely. Human understanding is limited, but the King’s guidance is perfect.

Application:
Today, identify one area where you’ve relied on your own wisdom. Surrender it to God and ask Him to direct your path. Recognize that His ways, not yours, bring life.

Prayer:
Father, I confess my tendency to rely on myself. Teach me to trust You fully, and make straight the paths You desire me to walk. Amen.

Thursday – The Kingdom Confronts Idols and Sin

Scripture: Habakkuk 2:18-19; Romans 8:7

Reflection:
God’s Kingdom exposes idols and rebellion in our hearts. Anything we place above Him…success, relationships, possessions…cannot save us. Sin, in essence, is rebellion against His authority. The King’s reign invites us to let go of what doesn’t belong, so we can live fully under His rule and blessing.

Application:
Reflect on what may have a higher claim in your heart than Jesus. Confess it. With His guidance, take practical steps to remove it from your life and replace it with worship and obedience to Him.

Prayer:
Jesus, forgive me for the areas of my life I’ve claimed as my own. Cleanse me from idols and sin, and help me to live fully under Your reign. Amen.

Friday – Responding to the King

Scripture: Acts 3:19; Romans 10:9; Matthew 6:33

Reflection:
The good news of the Kingdom is not just that it has arrived, but that we are invited to participate. Repentance and belief are the response of those who recognize Jesus as King. Seeking His Kingdom first changes everything: our priorities, our decisions, and our lives.

Application:
Today, make your allegiance to Jesus clear. Pray, confess, and ask Him to reign over your life. Consider practical ways to put His Kingdom first: relationships, work, finances, and choices.

Prayer:
King Jesus, I confess You as Lord. I repent of living my life as if I am in control. Reign over my heart, my mind, and my actions. May Your Kingdom come first in all I do. Amen.
